Denver Press Club Continues To Build Momentum For Sustainer Drive To Preserve Historic Community Hub

DENVER- The historic Denver Press Club launched its first Sustainer Drive last month in an effort to secure the long-term stability of the nation’s oldest continuously operating press club, alongside many other initiatives. The early support from donors is promising almost $500 of the $7,500 goal, thanks to the contributions of 11 individuals. The Club will continue to call in support with over a month left to meet their goals.

For nearly 160 years the Denver Press Club has been a center for journalistic endeavors, a hub for movers and shakers and community space. Generations of journalists, civic leaders, and community members have considered the Club a permanent home for the free press and protection of our First Amendment rights.

As technological advancements continue to speed up and disconnect our world, it is important to maintain a physical place of gathering where the community can come together. In 2025, the Press Club served over 3000 friends of journalism in their space, doing just that, allowing folks to start conversations about the issues of the day.

The Press Club prioritizes quality programming such as monthly conversation series, networking events, civic candidate forums, and many more. They would love to continue to maintain a space where it can host community events for all, such as the recent Portfolio Review, where expert communicators met with students to provide insight and feedback to strengthen their portfolios. The Club is also a space for important conversation, such as talks by Tennessee Watson and Rich Logis, ranging from discussions on confronting sexual assault to outlining political upheavel and betrayal. Events like the annual Sine Die Party host members to celebrate the end of the legislative session mere steps from the Capitol, while the Hall of Fame Reception brings the community together to honor astounding journalism. In the future, the press club would like to partner with organizations doing similar work to increase civic engagement.

The Sustainer Drive is more than just a donation; every contribution acts as a pillar to keep the Club standing and maintaining operations. The Club invites you to step forward and contribute to become part of the effort of preserving this historic center for the community and invest in the Press Club so that it can continue to serve as a home for all communicators alike.
