The Back Story with Ben Markus of Colorado Public Radio

CPR’s Ben Markus will join The Back Story host Noelle Phillips for a discussion on his investigation into COVID in Colorado nursing homes.
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Colorado had the worst rate of death per occupied nursing home bed in the U.S. It was twice the rate of death as the national average, according to the federal data.
Markus plowed into the data and filed open records requests to figure out how it happened and how the virus impacted Colorado’s vulnerable nursing home residents.
He will talk about mining data, open records requests and organizing the project for radio and online publication.
