Caricature Hanging Party for Joe Boven

Join the Denver Press Club for a party and ceremony, as it reveals and hangs the club’s current vice-president Joe Boven’s caricature on the DPC Caricature Wall. The event will take place on September 11, starting at 5:30 p.m. with the caricature reveal and hanging ceremony starting around 6:30 or 7 p.m. Food will be provided and will include typical BBQ fair; however, those who would like to are welcome to bring sides. Drink tickets will be available to the lucky few who register and show up before they run out.

The event is also Boven’s birthday party, and he will be using the opportunity to celebrate both his 51st year and his father’s birthday, which is on the 9th. So, please say happy birthday to both of them.

The event is free, but please consider this a chance to join the club, renew your membership, or donate what you can to the DPC. Please also consider this an opportunity to roast Boven at the event, but be kind.

Don’t know who Joe Boven is? That’s okay. It’s a great opportunity to meet him and other club members while eating some food.

Placement on the DPC Caricature Wall recognizes a member’s extraordinary contributions to the club. Placement is the decision of the DPC president in consultation with member advisors.

Boven, who first became a member in 2008, served on the board as a communications chair from 2016 through 18/19ish and then again over the last four years. Over that time, he crafted a SWOT analysis and change plan, established some of the club’s initial modern infrastructure and communications strategy, enhanced marketing, communications, and digital outreach; ran the newsletter; supported events; bought the club’s martini classes and washed said glasses numerous times, helped hire some people, wrote some press releases; made some videos, ran Colorado Gives Day campaigns; provided AV and online auctions for Runyons; Hall of Fame and some Ghost tours; and more recently led a campaign to celebrate the DPC clubhouse’s 150th year. He currently chairs the Development and External Relations committee and is actively working to help reimagine our scholarship program, among other tasks and initiatives. Boven was nominated for a caricature by former DPC President Marianne Goodland.
