SUMMARY:Denver Press Club Trivia presented by Utopia Home Services
DESCRIPTION:How do you stack up against other journalists in town?\n\n\n\nThe next season of Denver Press Club trivia presented by Utopia Home Services begins March 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Club. \nInvite all your friends! We have AP\, Colorado Public Radio\, The Denver Post\, Colorado Sun\, Denverite\, and teams from Channels 4\, 7\, and 9. But we haven’t had anyone from Fox31\, KWGN or Westword. \nTrivia normally takes place on the first Monday of each month\, with bar money going to the winner. The registration cost is $40 for each four-person team for the season\, which runs through December 2020 (10 games). That translates to $1 per player per game. If you have more than four players from the same organization\, you can start a second team. The season winner gets an even bigger prize at the end. \nInterested? Message treasurer Kevin Vaughan at treasuer@denverpressclub.org.

SUMMARY:Mike McClanahan Caricature Hanging
DESCRIPTION:Join\n\n\n\nMike McClanahan is one of the most dedicated\, veteran members of the Club. He is one of just two people to have attended all 25 Damon Runyon award banquets. But he’s also a fixture at 1330 Glenarm\, part of a longtime poker group\, and a frequent attendee of Club events. His service to the Club has been formal — he served on the board over a decade ago\, and assisted with a previous version of the Club’s website. \nIt’s also been informal: At many of the troubled times the Club has gone through\, he’s served as a diplomat and peacemaker\, seen by many as an honest broker of the Club’s challenges. It is hard to imagine the Club over the past quarter-century without Mike McClanahan. \nJoin us as we honor him with a caricature on our famed wall. \nAbout the Denver Press Club \nThe historic Denver Press Club is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to build engaged communities by supporting the pursuit of ethical journalism. It held its first organizational meeting in 1867 — nine years before Colorado became a state — making it the nation’s oldest press club. Since 1925\, its headquarters has been at 1330 Glenarm Place\, a building that in 2017 was added to the National Register of History Places. The Club’s more than 450 members includes journalists\, public relations professionals\, communications experts\, politicians and other supporters of press freedom and the First Amendment. We further our mission by nurturing the growth of aspiring journalists through our annual scholarship program\, facilitating conversations about the issues of the day\, providing professional development to journalists and students and helping the public understand the world around them. \nEach year since 1994\, the Club has held its annual Damon Runyon Award banquet — its largest fundraiser — to recognize a journalist who embodies the storytelling prowess of Damon Runyon\, an early Club member and Colorado newspaper writer who went on to fame in New York and whose stories were eventually compiled into Guys & Dolls\, the famed Broadway Musical. The Club also annually inducts a class of accomplished Colorado journalists into its Hall of Fame. \nYou can become a supporter of the Club regardless of whether you’re a member of the news media. To join our cause\, sign up denverpressclub.org/membership.
