SUMMARY:Should polls be banned?
DESCRIPTION:Polling has had a difficult summer. The Michigan and Wisconsin primaries’ polls were off by more than ten points. There have been reports of fake polls\, dozens of new pollsters with no track record\, and the end of live phone interviews. \nFloyd Ciruli\, a longtime Colorado pollster and adjunct professor of polling\, will address these problems with Axios reporter John Frank\, and other professional Colorado pollsters. \nFloyd Ciruli will address these problems with Axios reporter/editor John Frank and Jesse Paul of the Colorado Sun. Also joining are pollsters Lori Weigel of New Bridge Strategy and Alex Dunn of Aspect Strategic. Many European states regulate polling\, but it is mostly the wild west in the U.S. Among Ciruli’s topics: Is polling in trouble\, or is this year not much different than past midterm primary elections? DESCRIPTION:Overview\nHear speakers for and against a graduated income tax\, then share your own views in a Braver Angels forum. \nJoin us for a Braver Angels debate\, hosted by the Denver Press Club– you won’t find anywhere else — a space to think together\, listen with curiosity\, and engage across differences on one of Colorado’s most important ballot questions this year. \nDebate topic:\nResolved: Colorado should adopt a graduated income tax to increase funding for K–12 education\, health care\, and early childhood services. \nNote: This resolution does not represent Braver Angels’ or the Denver Press Club’s stance on the issue. The moderators will alternate between speeches supporting and opposing the resolution. \nThis topic is directly connected to Amendment 87 / Initiative 195 on the Colorado state ballot. DESCRIPTION:About this event\nInformation coming out of Eastern Europe after Russia invaded Ukraine is like no other war before it with social media reporting almost in real-time. On top of that\, Putin’s regime uses propaganda and misinformation to steer the narrative. It’s a lot to sort out even for the most media savvy. \nThe Denver Press Club brings together three media professionals with experience in Russia and Ukraine. Mark Dillen is a Denver-based media consultant who once worked with the foreign service in Moscow and taught journalism in Ukraine as a Fulbright scholar. Ann Imse is a former AP Moscow correspondent\, who covered the collapse of the Soviet Union and travels to Russia to train journalists. Larry Ryckman is a former AP bureau chief in Moscow. Marshall is the plaintiff in a lawsuit that alleges four members of the Douglas County school board met in secret and collectively decided to replace the district superintendent in violation of the open meetings law.\nKendra Carberry\, an attorney who represents numerous local governments in Colorado and advises them on Sunshine Law compliance.\nYesenia Robles\, a Chalkbeat Colorado reporter who covers Denver’s suburban school districts.\nKala Parkinson\, a Cortez Journal reporter who covers the Montezuma-Cortez school district.
