DESCRIPTION:Join us for the one-night-only Denver premiere of veteran arts journalist and playwright John Moore’s new play\, “The Crime Reporter\,” to be presented as a “staged reading” by professional local actors upstairs at the Denver Press Club at  6:30 p.m. Wednesday\, October 14.  \nJohn is a Denver Press Club member\, and his father’s portrait hangs on the Denver Press Club Hall of Fame wall. However\, “The Crime Reporter” is an homage to John’s mother\, fellow journalist Florence Moore\, who had eight kids by the time she was 32\, ran for public office and co-founded the Arvada Citizen newspaper.  \nSet across the changing landscape of 1970s Arvada\, this witty\, poignant play follows two Catholic moms — and one pint-sized member of the neighborhood press — navigating a decade of shifting American family dynamics. Through the comic lens of the town newspaper’s weekly police blotter\, their lives collide in a deeply personal coming-of-age story of family resilience\, female autonomy and the power of a clacking typewriter key.   \nJoin us for this singular event where the press club is\, in its way\, a supporting character.
