Nov. 13 Do we really want Amazon in Denver?

Amazon said in September it plans to build “HQ2,” a second headquarters, somewhere in North America. The company expects to invest more than $5 billion in construction and ultimately employ as many as 50,000. It has received 238 proposals from cities and regions in 54 states, provinces, districts and territories across North America, including Colorado.

But while the entire Colorado congressional delegation signed a letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos urging the company to pick the state, many residents take the opposite view. “Then are you going to fix transportation, magically find more water in the desert, create more affordable housing, find more employees to fill a labor shortage, find more construction workers to build, and find ways to repair old infrastructure” one asked in a Facebook comment on Rep. Diana DeGette’s page.
